OPINION

Time is running out

The SYRIZA-Independent Greeks coalition government cannot continue operating on a two-speed system and working with two conflicting policy strategies.

European officials who wish to see a successful conclusion to the second review of Greece’s bailout program agreed with its partners and creditors, as well as observe the country return to growth, are increasingly setting off alarm bells.

The noise created by the various disagreements within the ranks of the government and the unwillingness demonstrated by administration officials to implement all that has been agreed with Greece’s lenders are simply drowning out whatever progress is being recorded in certain areas.

There is hardly any room left for maneuvering and the bet that the country can return to some kind of normality will be lost if things don’t start changing very quickly.
