Scam cost social security fund thousands of euros
Nine people were arrested on Thursday for allegedly embezzling thousands of euros from the IKA -ETAM social security fund.
The scam was uncovered after a joint operation by the police internal affairs division and the fund itself at one of its branches in Egaleo, western Athens.
Initial estimates said the suspects embezzled more than 200,000 euros.
Authorities are still investigating the number of people involved in the scam.
