Lesvos islanders settle for Nobel nomination

Kamvisi and other Lesvos residents were nominated for the assistance they offered to refugees. The award went to Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos for his efforts to end the half-century war with FARC rebels. Syria’s White Helmet volunteers were also among the nominees for their daring efforts to rescue civilians caught up in the country’s war. [Alkis Konstantinidis/Reuters]
