No money left for private health insurance
The number of health insurance policyholders went down by 10 percent, or 93,869 people in the last three years, which is attributed to the financial crisis and the inability of households to shoulder the cost of a private program.
A survey by the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies (EAEE) showed on Thursday that the number of clients with personal (as opposed to corporate) policies fell from about 926,068 in 2012 to 832,199 in 2015.
That was despite the slight rebound – by 2,109 clients – recorded in 2015 compared to 2014.
