Students crash meeting of university rectors in Thessaloniki

The 82nd Rectors’ Synod in the northern port city of Thessaloniki got off to a rocky start Friday after a group of students stormed into the meeting of university chiefs to protest government policy in education.

The protesters, who represented associations of chemistry, literature, psychology and architecture students, held up banners accusing Education Minister Nikos Filis of pursuing policies that diminish the value of their degrees.
