Minister for state jobs?

Christoforos Vernardakis’s job title is alternate minister for administrative reform. So far, however, there is little evidence to support his performance in the crucial task of streamlining Greece’s administrative apparatus.

On the other hand, there are many indications that his main concern is recruiting party cronies to the public sector and local administrations. He has gone so far as to use amendments and official decisions to do so, regardless of whether there is money in the state coffers.

If Vernardakis manages to keep his position following a shake-up of the SYRIZA-led administration, perhaps his title should be changed to alternate minister for hirings.
