Opposition calls for postponement of broadcasting council decision
Greek opposition parties – with the exception of the KKE communist party and far-right Golden Dawn – on Wednesday requested from a meeting between Parliamentary Speaker Nikos Voutsis and the House's deputy speakers to postpone a decision on the composition of the new National Broadcasting Council (ESR).
The parties requested that the presidium put off the discussion on the ESR pending a ruling from the Council of State, the country's highest administrative court, on the constitutionality of a television license tender held by the government last month.
Ruling coalition partners SYRIZA and Independent Greeks claim that the two issues are not related and voted against a postponement.
