A Turkish fighter jet which entered Greek air space early on Thursday was identified and intercepted according to international law, Greek authorities said on Thursday.

According to reports, the aircraft entered the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR) twice, first at 3.38 a.m. and then at 5.32 a.m., flying over the islet of Panagia, east of Oinousses, on both occasions.

The incident followed a dogfight between two Turkish fighter jets and two Greek aircraft on Wednesday, the first such incident since a failed military coup in Turkey on July 15.
