Two arrested for smuggling antiquities in northwestern Greece
Two men, aged 31 and 33, on Thursday faced a prosecutor in Preveza, northwestern Greece, on charges of illegally possessing and trading in ancient artifacts.
Searches of their homes on Wednesday turned up a large number of artifacts – chiefly amphorae but also coins, jewelry and religious icons – from various periods.
