No more empty promises
The government has been tragically lackadaisical in its handling of the immigration crisis, allowing it to swell to almost unmanageable proportions.
All of the problems on the islands hosting large numbers of refugees and migrants – which are very serious indeed – have come about as a direct result of delays in taking action, or, more specifically, the lack of determination shown by the ministers responsible for all matters that are directly or indirectly related to this challenge.
The longer that these problems are not dealt with properly, the bigger the security risks will become.
The government must also be wary of the frustration of the local communities on these islands, which is quickly reaching the point of despair.
No one wants to hear more empty promises and dead-end announcements. They want action and they want it now.
