Economic misery and disregard for institutions are deepening. Ruling SYRIZA officials have a bad habit of resorting to polarization, division and ad hominem attacks every time they run into a deadlock.
As demonstrated by the reaction of senior government officials to the Council of State’s ruling on the TV license process, they often lose control under pressure.
The damage caused by their reckless behavior is huge, and potentially irreparable. The growing pauperization of the population has created a great deal of frustration and anger. Society is a tinderbox.
Government officials will not be able to save themselves by using the same old tactics, simply because voters have lost confidence in them. Their actions are inviting the risk of extremism and violence.
