Senior eurozone official says a deal by December 5 is attainable

A senior ranking eurozone office reportedly said on Friday that a deal with Greece, including an agreement on its debt, is feasible by December 5 at the Eurogroup, as long as the second review of the country’s a third bailout is wrapped up by the end of November.

Speaking to reporters, the official said that the aim is ambitious but realistic.

“There is a Eurogroup on December 5, the last for 2016. If the institutions and the Greek government close the second review until the end of November, then we will be within the time frame to close all the issues and the one on debt, ” he reportedly said.

With its poll ratings suffering, the leftist-led government has been in a race against time to complete the review to kick start talks on its key demand for debt relief before the end of the year.
