Greeks stranded in Turkish coastal town to return to Lesvos

A group of 280 Greeks who were stranded in the Turkish coastal town of Ayvalik on Thursday evening were expected to return to Mytilene, Lesvos, on Friday.

The group had arrived for a day trip to visit a local bazaar.

However, the vessel that was scheduled to take them back to Lesvos, the Turkey-registered Aysegul, was confiscated on Thursday by the Turkish authorities for debts to the state.

A Greek vessel, Lesvos, departed from Mytilene late Thursday in order to bring the Greek travelers back home.
