Father, son arrested for blackmailing meat processing company owner
A 58-year-old man and his 32-year-old son were arrested Wednesday on charges of attempted extortion and slander of a proprietor of a meat processing company in the Rendi suburb of Athens.
According to the investigation, the father attempted to blackmail the owner, whom he worked for, demanding 70,000 euros not to post footage online that purportedly showed that his company illegally marked foreign meat as Greek.
He also demanded that the owner fire him so that he could get compensation. But the owner did not give in to the demand, prompting the 58-year old’s son to post seven allegedly slanderous videos online.
