Bank robber caught in the act on Evia

A 34-year-old man was arrested in the act of robbing a bank in Nea Artaki, on Evia, on Thursday. The suspect was detained by police officers as he exited the bank carrying the sum of 306,000 euros.

According to initial reports, the alleged robber entered the bank wearing a mask, a cap and a pair of sunglasses and threatened staffers and a female client with a gun.

After locking those present in a basement area, he removed cash from the safe and the ATM cash machine before exiting the premises.

The suspect was expected to face a prosecutor on Thursday.
