Capital controls to ease further

Bank of Greece Governor Yannis Stournaras announced on Thursday that the capital controls will ease further, and Kathimerini understands that anonymous companies (SAs) will soon be allowed to open accounts at domestic banks, which is currently forbidden.

The measure has received the European Central Bank’s approval and the consent of the other creditors is expected as early as tomorrow, so it can come into force immediately.

Stournaras added that “the full lifting of capital controls is the end of the road” that will depend on the completion of the second bailout review and the lightening of the debt.
