Police attacked with fire bombs in central Athens

The area of the Athens Polytechnic in Exarchia was the scene of clashes between rioters and police units early Saturday morning.

According to reports, the clashes began after unidentified assailants threw petrol bombs at a riot police unit stationed on the corner of Marnis and Patission streets and set fire to dumpsters.

Patission was cordoned off until 5.30 a.m.

No one was arrested or injured.

Police are conducting an investigation.
