Historic opportunity
Today’s visit by US President Barack Obama is a stellar opportunity to project Greece around the world as an island of stability in an increasingly volatile and dangerous region.
There are, however, still those in Greece who continue to view any American president in a distorted and outdated light, ignoring the fact that times have changed, along with Greek society and the vast majority of the country’s political leadership.
Greece needs powerful allies and it also need to change its image abroad, so such a historic opportunity to cast the country in a positive light should not be allowed to go to waste.
