Mitsotakis visits Mt Athos
Opposition leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis was visiting the Mount Athos peninsula in northern Greece on Thursday. The New Democracy leader was expected to visit several monasteries in the monastic community.
During his visit Mitsotakis noted that while he had visited Mount Athos on several occasions, this was his first in his capacity as opposition chief.
He also praised the role of the religious community as a unifying force for all Orthodox people and called it a place of “profound serenity.”
