Greece regarded with pity and compassion, Mitsotakis says

Conservative opposition leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis has attacked Greece’s left-led coalition government saying that its poor performance had invited pity and compassion from the international community.

Addressing his conservative deputies on Wednesday, Mitsotakis said that nascent challenges in the region, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s questioning of the 1923 Lausanne Treaty, had accentuated the need for a more reliable Greek administration.

“Greece is an outsider. The government does not have a clear national strategy. Our weak economy has edged us out. We are a constant problem, regarded by the international community with pity and compassion,” Mitsotakis said.
