Deaf protesters make victory sign at anti-austerity rally

Deaf people make a gesture that in sign language means ‘victory’ as they take part in a demonstration yesterday by disabled people and their families in central Athens to express their opposition to the government’s ongoing austerity drive. Demonstrators in wheelchairs carried black balloons to protest against successive cuts to disability benefits over the years and further austerity being discussed by Greek officials and representatives of the country’s international creditors.
