Golden Dawn members storm journalists’ union building

Members of far-right Golden Dawn stormed into the third floor of the Athens Journalists’ Union, ESIEA, shouting abusive slogans on Monday, during an event observing Human Rights Day. The event focused on issues regarding ethnic minorities living in Greece as well as recommendations by international organizations.

Prior to entering the building, the Golden Dawn members, which included MPs Yiannis Lagos, Ilias Panagiotaros and Constantinos Barbarousis, had gathered outside the union’s building on Akadimias street.

The event's organizers claimed Monday they had sought police protection, but that their request had been ignored by Greek police.
