Bouroussis leads Panathinaikos to win over AEK

Panathinaikos is now alone in second on the Basket League table after beating crosstown rival AEK 77-68 on Sunday to stay one point behind leader Olympiakos.

The Greens had former AEK player Yiannis Bouroussis to thank for his performance that helped them overcome the strong resistance of visiting AEK in the first three quarters of the derby and inflict AEK’s second league defeat.

Olympiakos, on the other hand, strolled to an 83-58 win over Rethymno at home to remain unbeaten in domestic competitions.

PAOK scraped through Promitheas Patras winning 75-73 in overtime on Saturday and remained fourth, level on points with Thessaloniki rival Aris that saw off Kymi 85-72 at home.

Korivos registered a precious 87-76 win over fellow struggling Trikala at Amaliada, as Toddrick Gotcher scored a career record 29 points and emerged as the Most Valuable Player of the weekend for the league.

Even bigger was Lavrio’s 64-63 win at Doxa Lefkadas, coming from two free throws by Demarius Bolds just seconds before the buzzer. Kolossos is now joint sixth after downing Apollon Patras 71-59 on Rhodes.
