Mitsotakis accuses PM of ‘gambling’ with country’s future

As Parliament prepared to vote on a government proposal for a one-off payout to pensioners, New Democracy opposition attacked the left-led administration of putting Greece’s future at risk.

“[Prime Minister Alexis] Tsipras is gambling with the country’s future,” ND chief Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on the sidelines of the European People’s Party summit in Brussels.

“He has once more proved himself to be immoral and dangerous,” Mitsotakis said as his party indicated conservative MPs would vote “present” in Thursday’s roll call in Parliament.

Eurozone lenders put a short-term debt relief deal for Greece on hold on Wednesday after the Athens government proposed the controversial measures.
