Patric Young preserves Olympiakos’s unbeaten record

Olympiakos and Panathinaikos braved the strong challenges of hosts PAOK and Trikala respectively to emerge unscathed from a tricky Sunday, in the midst of a hot period in the Euroleague where they have to play three European games in just eight days.

PAOK led a depleted Olympiakos (without injured Vassilis Spanoulis, Giorgos Printezis and Daniel Hackett) 84-83 with a minute left to play, but Patric Young took it upon himself to give Olympiakos the win in the end with an 89-84 score.

Trikala was an easy fixture for Panathinaikos on paper, but the hosts put up a great fight and had the Greens work hard in the last few minutes to win 82-77.

AEK and Aris continued with comfortable wins, as the Athens team saw off Doxa Lefkadas 84-60 and the Thessaloniki giants defeated Apollon 79-64 at Patra.

Kymi scored a precious victory over fellow promoted Promitheas Patras with a 77-66 score, leading to the departure of Promitheas coach Nikos Vetoulas. He is replaced by Vangelis Angelou.

The tightest of the weekend's games saw Kolossos Rhodes beat Lavrio 67-65 away, while Rethymno thrashed Korivos Amaliadas 101-70 at home.
