Flu jabs running low as Greeks warm to inoculation

TAGS: Health

Greeks appear to be responding to persistent calls by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (KEELPNO) to protect themselves against the flu, but the rising sales have resulted in a shortage of the vaccine.

According to figures from the Health Ministry cited by the head of the pharmacists’ association, Constantinos Lourantos, at a press conference on Monday, more than 1.75 million flu jabs have been imported into Greece since early autumn. This is significantly higher than the 1.63 million brought in last year and the 1.66 million in 2014.

An additional 27,500 shots are expected within the next few days, as authorities are bracing for the flu season to pick up after the holidays.
