Fifteen New Democracy MPs submitted a question in Parliament Tuesday asking whether the Venezuelan government provided funding to any parties, political organizations or Greek citizens.
The question was addressed to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, Digital Policy Minister Nikos Pappas and State Minister Christoforos Vernadakis.
The question relates to a visit that Pappas paid to Venezuela in 2013 with Cypriot lawyer Artemis Artemiou. When the trip was revealed in the media recently, Pappas claimed that the purpose of his visit was to examine the possibility of importing Venezuelan agricultural products.
Artemiou took to Twitter to deny this was the case, without giving any further information.
The conservative MPs set out a list of 14 questions for the government, including whether there are any financial ties between the Venezuelan government and SYRIZA, its officials and companies linked to the party.
