ATHEX: European wind of growth fans Greek stocks

Helped on by the highs recorded in the market of London and Frankfurt, the Greek bourse started climbing back up on Tuesday, toward the 800-point mark it came close to last week.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 788.78 points, adding 0.83 percent to Monday’s 782.32 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 index expanded 0.86 percent to 2,095.67 points.

The banks index improved 1.69 percent, with Eurobank rising 2.81 percent and Alpha grabbing 2.25 percent.

In total 71 stocks posted gains, 33 took losses and 21 closed unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 64.4 million euros, just below from Monday’s 64.6 million.

In Nicosia the general index of the Cyprus Stock Exchange advanced 0.78 percent to 78.63 points.
