ATHEX: Slight drop for Athens bourse benchmark
International market jitters on political issues and domestic concerns over whether the country’s creditors would reach an agreement at Monday’s Eurogroup led Greek stocks lower on Thursday.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 782.83 points, shedding 0.79 percent from Wednesday’s 789.08 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 index contracted 0.78 percent to 2,078.39 points. The banks index gave up 0.98 percent.
In total 43 stocks advanced, 63 declined and 20 stayed put.
Turnover amounted to 73 million euros, down from Wednesday’s 121.6 million.
The general index of the Cyprus Stock Exchange in Nicosia slumped 2.54 percent to 76.71 points.
