Defense alternate undergoes heart surgery

Alternate Defense Minister Dimitris Vitsas was in an Athens hospital on Wednesday after having stent surgery following a heart attack late on Tuesday night.

The 60-year-old SYRIZA official was said to be in stable condition on Wednesday following the procedure, which was carried out at the capital’s Hellenic Navy Hospital.
