VOLLEYBALL: The men’s national team could do no better than losing 3-0 to The Netherlands in its qualifying group for the World Championship and will fight it out in its two remaining games for the runners-up spot that leads to the play-off group.

WATER POLO: Olympiakos underperformed at the start of the Final Six of the men’s Champions League and bowed out losing to European champion Jug Dubrovnik 11-8 in Budapest on Thursday. Notably it covered a 7-2 half-time deficit to equalize 7-7, but that was not enough. On Friday it will play for the fifth place.

BASKETBALL: A fan at a local amateur league game in Patra was injured by a stone hurled against him during clashes between supporters of local rivals EAP and Panachaiki on Wednesday.
