The image of Athens International Airport has improved considerably following recent infrastructure upgrades. The country’s main airport can now use its fully automatic systems to serve up to 26 million passengers per annum, up from 20 million last year.

The improvements concern the two central security points, faster procedures thanks to the automatic equipment and gates, and more commercial stores.

Separately, the AIA’s Canadian investors submitted an improved offer late on Tuesday for the concession contract’s extension by 20 years, amounting to 600 million euros plus 15 percent of annual operating profits, which state sell-off fund TAIPED accepted.
