Father accused of forcing his children to beg, beating them
A 43-year-old man was arrested in Thessaloniki on Friday because he allegedly forced his children to busk and beg on the streets of the northern port city.
According to the police investigation, the father would beat his three children, aged 9, 12 and 16, if they did not collect enough money, while their mother was also subjected to violence.
Since the family arrived from Bulgaria three years ago, the children had been forced to busk on the streets and hand him all their earnings.
All three were placed in the custody of the state, while their father was to appear before a prosecutor on Friday.
