Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Tuesday wished good luck to thousands of high-school seniors sitting national university exams on the first day of the testing period.

“The national entrance exams are a very important moment in life, but not one that determines everything,” Tsipras tweeted.

He added that it is the government’s responsibility to pave the way so that children can realize their dreams, saying that he hopes an educational reform bill currently being processed will help to this end.

Opposition leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis also sent a message on Twitter wishing the students sitting exams good luck and strength.

“Life is full of tests and battles,” the New Democracy chief wrote. “Start strong! Be strong! Good luck!”

The university entrance exams begin with Modern Greek.
