ATHEX: Benchmark edges higher on ELA drop
Uncertainty prevailed for another day on the Greek bourse on Thursday, but banks led the benchmark higher due to the decline of the ELA cap.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 779.05 points, adding 0.61 percent to Wednesday’s 774.29 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 index expanded 0.46 percent, to reach 2,068.40 points.
The banks index advanced 1.71 percent, with National rising 2.82 percent.
In total 56 stocks improved, 35 declined and 20 stayed put.
Turnover amounted to 44.3 million euros, against Wednesday’s 59.7 million.
In Nicosia the general index of the Cyprus Stock Exchange fell 0.25 percent to 76.30 points.
