Political license

There was a time when Greeks needed to have a permit of political affiliation in order to enjoy their full rights as citizens. That era is now behind us. During the period of transition, however, other such tools of license have come into force, such as that of political correctness.

Whoever disagrees with the establishment’s ideology is dismissed as a traitor, a fascist or a junta sympathizer. This period too must end in order for the political pendulum to finally swing to the middle and then remain there.

This McCarthyism, which is used by a certain section of the left and the far right, is sick and twisted. Nobody can have a monopoly on the truth in history, political confrontation or opinion when it comes to national issues.
