ATHEX: Bourse benchmark stays near the 820-pt mark

Greek stocks had another mixed session on Monday as the majority of blue chips headed south while the rest of the market went the other way, on significantly reduced turnover.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 819.09 points, shedding 0.17 percent from Friday’s 820.52 points. The large-cap FTSE-26 index contracted 0.31 percent to 2,160.77 points while mid-caps improved 0.37 percent.

Banks gave up 0.98 percent with National falling 1.22 percent and Eurobank dropping 0.96 percent. Piraeus and Alpha were down 0.93 percent.

Some blue chips made considerable gains as Viohalco rose 7.41 percent and Ellaktor jumped 3.70 percent. Motor Oil declined 3.23 percent.

In total 65 stocks advanced, 43 posted losses and 20 stayed unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 56.4 million euros, down from Friday’s 87.3 million.

In Nicosia the general index of the Cyprus Stock Exchange grew 0.27 percent to 75.21 points.
