Two arrested in western Greece for drug trafficking

A 39 year-old Greek and 26 year-old Albanian national were arrested in the Aitolokarnania region of western Greece after police found them to be in possession of more than 21 kilos of cannabis.

Police say the two suspects tried to evade police after they were signaled to pull over for a routine traffic stop. When the suspects were finally stopped, police searched their vehicle, where they found the contraband items.

They were then taken to the prosecutor’s office in Messolongi, where they were charged with drug trafficking. Police have been stepping up patrols along suspected transit routes as they try to tackle the drug trade.
