No big changes in heating oil rates for now

The sale of heating oil for the new winter season began on Friday, with rates close to last October’s level of 0.93-0.95 euros per liter in Athens and slightly lower than the 0.97 euros/lt observed at the end of last season (April 2017).

The market does not foresee any dramatic price fluctuations as things stand, but it is expecting consumption to drop further given the 50 percent reduction of the state subsidy for the poorest households.

Last year 700,000 consumers received subsidies of 110 million euros, while this year the budget provides for just 55 million euros.
