Democratic Alignment MP withdraws from center-left leadership race
Democratic Alignment MP Odysseas Constantinopoulos, one of the 10 candidates vying for the leadership of a new Greek center-left party that aims to occupy the political space between leftist SYRIZA and conservative New Democracy pulled out of the race on Monday, citing health reasons.
Constantopoulos explained his decision to withdraw from the contest after undergoing knee surgery that will make him unable to meet the demands of the election campaign.
The MP wished the other candidates all the best in the election which is scheduled for November 12 with a possible runoff on November 19 if the first polls are inconclusive.
