ATHEX: Bourse sees turnover slide to lowest level in two months
The slight uptick of the Athens bourse benchmark on Monday was likely just a blip and should not be viewed as a sign of price growth to come, especially given that it also came on the lowest daily trading volume seen in two months, as the market continues to await direction.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 743.57 points, adding 0.59 percent to Friday’s 739.22 points. The large-cap FTSE-26 index expanded 0.67 percent to close at 1,955.07 points, while mid-caps slid 0.71 percent.
Eurobank outperformed with its 4.60 percent jump, single-handedly leading the banks index 0.66 percent higher as Alpha fell 0.60 percent and Attica contracted 1.92, while National and Piraeus closed without a change.
In total 63 stocks posted gains, 45 took losses and 28 ended unchanged.
Turnover amounted to 28.7 million euros, against last Friday’s 37.2 million.
In Nicosia the general index of the Cyprus Stock Exchange dropped 0.35 percent to 73.21 points.
