Suspect, 32, held over killing of Athens lawyer Zafeiropoulos

A 32-year-old Albanian national, who was arrested on Saturday, is believed to be the killer of criminal lawyer Michalis Zafeiropoulos, who was gunned down in his office in central Athens last month.

The suspect had taken refuge in a Roma settlement in the prefecture of Achaia in the Peloponnese, according to police sources, while another man who entered Zafeiropoulos’s office with the 32-year-old before the lawyer was shot remained at large late last night.

Another three suspects, also Albanian nationals, were questioned earlier this week in connection with the killing. All three have been linked to the attempted contract killing in 2014 of another lawyer, Giorgos Antonopoulos.
