AEK shares another goalless draw with Milan

AEK snatched another Europa League point from AC Milan on Thursday, sharing another goalless draw with the Italian giant for the second time in two weeks, this time in Athens.

The 0-0 result takes AEK to six points from four games and keeps it unbeaten in the group where it sits pretty on the second spot. Victory in the next match at home against Rijeka should send the Yellows to the last 32 of the competition.

In its first game without injured captain Petros Mantalos AEK was the better team at the Olympic Stadium of Athens missing more chances and putting notable pressure on the Italian goal.

Boosted by its 45,000 fans at the stands, AEK dominated the midfield and defended well against a strong side that is not at its best.

As the game went on the Greeks increased the pressure on the Italians, with a 90th-minute shot by Jacob Johansson screaming just wide of the Milan goal.

The Greeks were also lucky to see a Riccardo Montolivo shot hit the upright on the 57th minute, but overall the 3-5-2 formation worked well for manager Manolo Jimenez and the result vindicates the Spaniard.
