Sadness and anger

Despite the myriad challenges people face in this country, the overwhelming majority has been incredibly mature in the way it has approached the refugee and migrant crisis.

Without doubt, most Greeks are saddened and angered by the attack Friday on the home of an Afghan boy who made headlines recently because his school prevented him from carrying the Greek flag at the October 28 parade even though he had been selected to do so by lot.

As a society, we should stand up to such phenomenon and make sure that no one is allowed to cultivate racism and intolerance.
