Greek Roma worst hit by measles outbreak, KEELPNO says
Seven in 10 cases of measles reported to the Center of Disease Prevention and Control (KEELPNO) in the period from May to October this year, or 265 of a total of 368 cases, affected Greek Roma, and the majority contracted the disease in camps in the Attica region and the Peloponnese, data have shown.
Two in 10 patients, or 70 cases, were Greeks who do not belong to any population sub-groups and just 33 cases, or 9 percent of the total, were foreign nationals.
Data also show that eight in 10 cases in May to October concerned children aged up to 14 years old, and 320 of the 368 individuals who contracted the disease had never undergone inoculation.
