PAOK avenged its Greek Cup loss to Aris earlier this season beating its Thessaloniki rival on Saturday, while favorites Panathinaikos and Olympiakos recorded rather easy wins on Sunday ahead of a week with two rounds of Euroleague games.

A great third quarter (with a partial 23-8 score) was enough for PAOK to beat Aris 63-57 at home in a win that will serve to boost its spirit for the season.

Panathinaikos had Marcus Denmon notch up 21 points – consolidating his position in the Greens’ roster – in the visitors’ 89-66 win at Panionios. Panathinaikos is the only team to have a perfect record after five games.

Rethymno pushed Olympiakos in Piraeus (behind closed doors) in the first three quarters, but when the Cretan Kings’ Malcolm Armstead (13 points, six assists) got tired, the Reds ran away with the game, winning 90-72.

Promitheas Patras is joint second – along with Olympiakos – after beating winless Kymi 93-82, and Lavrio saw off Kolossos Rhodes 80-62.

Gymnastikos/Faros Larissas downed neighboring Trikala 77-70, having Dutch forward Roeland Schaftenaar score 25 points in 31 minutes.
