No metro services on Wednesday night as staff to walk out

Employees on the Athens metro are to stage a walkout on Wednesday which will halt services after 9 p.m.

The union representing the workers said it would continue its action until authorities take action to guarantee jobs amid broader plans for privatization of Greek transport services.

Union members have demanded a meeting with Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos to discuss the matter.

Metro workers are also planning a 24-hour for Thursday but have yet to confirm the walkout.
