Fog prompts flight cancelations at Thessaloniki airport

Dense fog prompted aviation authorities at the northern port city of Thessaloniki to cancel several flights on Monday, while it was also causing lengthy delays in arrivals and departures.

Two Turkish Airlines flights to Istanbul and an inbound Ryanair flight from Athens have been canceled so far on Monday, press officer Yiannis Papazoglou said. He added that the pilot of a flight from Larnaca in Cyprus to the northern Greek port city decided to land in Athens instead for safety reasons.

Papazoglou said that passengers planning to travel to or from the northern port city on Monday should visit the airport’s website to check on the status of their flights.
