Mandra flood toll at 23 after woman’s death in hospital

Authorities on Monday revised the death toll from the western Attica flash floods earlier this month to 23 after the reported death of an elderly woman who was being treated in a hospital for hypothermia and extensive leg injuries.

Also on Monday, a fire service crew discovered a man’s body in deep mud that had accumulated beside a wall near a bus depot. He is believed to be a hunter who had been reported missing by his family in the wake of the November 15 flash floods.

The floods killed 21 people in western Attica, most of whom were trapped in their homes in the town of Mandra or were motorists caught by the torrents.
