Destructive Agia Zoni II tanker pulled up from seabed
The Agia Zoni II vessel, which was shipwrecked in the Saronic Gulf in September, was lifted out of the sea on Wednesday and was to be towed to Ambelakia on the island of Salamina. Officials of the company that has undertaken the task to clean up the pollution are due to remain behind to monitor the sea area. The tanker, constructed in 1972 and with a capacity of 3,205 tons, sunk southwest of the Atalanti islet while it was moored and loaded with 2,200 metric tons fuel oil and 370 metric tons of marine gas oil.
